Wrong Way Thar

A ‘Thar Star’ is a formation (#20; wrong-way #21).
‘Thars’ and ‘Wrong Way Thars’ are ‘formations in motion’.

‘(Make a) Wrong Way Thar’ is a ‘suffix command’:
it may be added to a call after a right arm turn.
It instructs center/directed dancers to form a left-hand star (#49) and back up.
Outsides move forward, forearm hold with centers.

• HAND-HOLDS FOR THAR STAR:
  • men: inside hands form a packsaddle/box star,
    where each man takes the wrist of the man in front of him
  • women: if any women are in the star,
    dancers simply touch hands in the center
• Outside Dancers Set Rotating Pace: since outside dancers must travel farther, they should be allowed to set the rotating pace
• Allemande Thar (as opposed to ‘Wrong Way Thar’) may be formed at the end of a left arm turn: center/directed dancers form a right-hand star (#48) and back up.
• SAMPLE CALLS:
  • turn partner left; turn corner right to a Wrong Way Thar
    (men will be in the middle)
  • allemande left; turn partner right, girls swing in make a Wrong Way Thar
  • allemande left in the Alamo style; swing thru;
    turn by the right 3/4 to a Wrong Way Thar
