• PRACTICE (online exercises and printable worksheets)
• This page gives an in-a-nutshell discussion of the concepts.
Want more details, more exercises?

This section gives you mixed practice with:

• addition problems: $\,x + y\,$
• subtraction problems: $\,x - y\,$
• multiplication problems: $\,xy\,$
• division problems: $\,\frac{x}{y}\,$

All the answers are nonnegative.
For example, you might be asked the subtraction problem $\,7 - 3\,$, but you won't be asked $\,3 - 7\,$.

All the answers are whole numbers.
For example, you might be asked the division problem $\,\frac{35}{7}\,$, but you won't be asked $\,\frac{7}{35}\,$.

Since this is algebra, there might be some variables thrown in!
For example, you might be asked for   $\,3x + 5x\,$   or   $\,\frac{60t}{10}\,$ .
(There's also a way to opt out of seeing any variables.)

Of course, no calculator is allowed!
The goal is to get confident and quick with these basic arithmetic facts.

Master the ideas from this section
by practicing the exercise at the bottom of this page.
